A live transparency project proving how public BitTorrent really is.

What this is. AnyoneCanSeeWhatYou.download is a real-time monitoring project. It joins BitTorrent swarms (with no limit on the number of torrents it tracks) and records the peers that connect to them — their IP addresses, the torrent they're downloading, and when.

Every one of those connections is public information inside the swarm. Anyone in the swarm can see it, and anyone can log it. This site simply makes that visible and searchable.

How it works. AnyoneCanSeeWhatYou.download discovers torrents through the BitTorrent DHT network and connects to them to observe who shows up. For each peer it logs the IP, client, country, ASN (Internet Provider), and timestamps.

No files are downloaded and no content is stored — only the connection records.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Can people really see my IP when I download a torrent?
Yes. When you download (or seed) a torrent, your client connects to other peers. Every peer you connect to receives your IP address and can see which infohash (torrent) you're transferring. Trackers and DHT also see you announce.
Can they see what I'm downloading?
Yes — the torrent's name (metadata) is usually visible to peers in the swarm, along with your IP and the time you were connected. That combination is what this site records.
Is my data logged permanently?
Any observer in a swarm can log this permanently, and many do. This site keeps the records and lets anyone check an IP address to see what activity is publicly associated with it.
How do I check if I'm in the logs?
Use the search box on the homepage, or open the site and look at the “Your IP” box — it shows your own IP and whether there are any records for it. The search also works for any other IP.
Does this site download anything?
No. Torrents run in upload/observe mode: the site connects to swarms to see the peers, but never downloads or stores torrent content. Only connection metadata is recorded.

⚖ Legal & transparency

AnyoneCanSeeWhatYou.download operates as a research and transparency service. It does not host, store, download, or redistribute any content.

  • No files are ever downloaded. The service joins swarms solely to observe the metadata and connection events that are already publicly visible on the BitTorrent DHT network. It does not download torrent content, pieces, or payloads.
  • No files are shared or redistributed. The service does not upload, seed, or otherwise transfer any content to any peer.
  • .torrent files and magnet URIs are not stored. AnyoneCanSeeWhatYou.download cannot and will not provide, share, or disclose .torrent files or magnet links to anyone, because they are not retained by the service.
  • Only metadata is recorded. The service keeps infohashes, torrent names, aggregate peer statistics, and connection records (IP addresses, clients, countries, timestamps). This information is already publicly observable by any participant in the swarm.
  • No copyright-protected material is hosted. The service never makes any content available for download and does not index, mirror, or cache copyrighted files.
